Goodbye Tahoe, Hello Oakland

I'm officially a city girl! Exciting, nerve-wracking, scary. I didnt' want to leave Tahoe, but I moved here for the combination of beach, mountain and forest hikes, the chance to garden again and the opportunities to show my work and check out others'. The selection of great schools to apply to next fall for my MFA was a large part of my decision to move to the Bay Area and in the meantime I get to take advantage of visiting artist lectures, gallery openings, art walks, antique fairs, and every possible cultural event - I'm surrounded by great stuff to do and see! Tahoe/Reno just doesn't have this so I made the tough choice to leave.

I'm busy applying for juried shows, gallery exhibitions and grants; updating my portfolio, website and blog; gardening; unpacking and organizing my new home and, of course, working on a few different art projects in my new studio...which some would call a dining room...

Regrets? Sometimes. Sad? Frequently. Nervous? Often. Determined? Definitely. Stressed? Whoooya. Content? Mostly. Working? Absolutely!

The official mark that I have left Tahoe = I have to get a California driver's license and register my car here.

AND - I have the most beautiful roses in bloom on my patio and I'm going for a walk on the beach in Alameda this afternoon.
